Stefan Brown- Little by Little

Yesterday I posted a song of mine called ‘Sail‘ (it’s here) and that song is a relaxed moody number with some electric, acoustic, and slide guitar.I really hope you are enjoying it.

Much thanks to those who have purchased it too. Big ups !

While you were listening to that, I spent a couple days with a great friend, Stefan Brown.

Stefan has  a long history in the New Zealand music scene. He started as a child watching his Dad play guitar and eagerly followed in his footsteps taking Dads lovely old Ibanez Ragtime Jazz guitar with him. He still has it.

hello 300x225 Stefan Brown New Song

Stefan outside my home- Air guitar ?

Stefan has rightly earned many awards in music including a Gold disc and has produced several CD’s and albums. He also has a trail of happy and successful music students in his wake.

He is a full time professional guitarist and musician. Stefan has a big heart and is without doubt a very talented genius with loads of presence and charisma.

I should know.

I’ve seen him play rock, country, swing, jazz, you name it he nails it and the audiences love every minute of his performances and happy banter. He’s a wonderful entertainer and surprising Guitarist. Always keeps you interested and gets you hooked.

He slices out some amazing riffs and solos all the while chugging away at rythym and bass lines, seriously, I can’t keep up.

At one stage in Stefans early career following a big hit here in NZ (Big Norm -Ebony) he was forced to destroy copies of a record that a neighbouring Government considered too controversial. The vinyl records were ordered to have holes drilled in each and every one. Vinyl records already had holes in them. :-)

Meanwhile Stef has added many strings to his musical bow. He effortlessly creates advertising jingles, teaches students, plays several gigs a week, is involved with multiple bands, and writes absolutely fabulous childrens songs and books.

We have the priviledge of sharing some of his great material with you over the coming months.

Stefan has also been producing “Where The Wild Things Are” for years as a school musical in which he wrote and perfected a full production and all songs.

His production and songs shine way above the recent movie version. I’ve seen both. Stefan wins on this one. I’m not sure what we can do about that. It’s dissapointing to see movies that can’t hold a candle to a school production.

Millions of people of all ages have read “Where The Wild Things Are”  by Maurice Sendak. It’s a household favourite.

We have a couple of  raw versions of Stefans ‘Wild Things’ songs from his production on video and we just might be able to play them soon. Bring the kids when we do.

Stefan was on holiday when he visited and really needed a break from Guitar but he could’nt resist the Guitar I tempted him with.

In the video below, Stefan is playing ‘Little by Little’ on my beautiful little Chilean guitar. (It featured in my video yesterday)

He fell in love with it. I knew he would because everybody does. (Yes, I still have it)

So, without further ado, ladies & gentlemen, Mr Stefan Brown… live, at the home of Guitarblogstar.

You are among the first to hear this song. Stefan will be recording it professionally soon.

Here it’s played with kind permission from Stefan and dedicated on this occasion to me and Ngaire.

Aww. We love Stef.

p.s This is one of Stefs softer tracks and a beautiful original song. Do watch out for more of this boy because he can really rock it out and plays stunning jazz as well - he will be back here soon!

p.p.s Comments please!
