I have just published
a new article on Finger picking which I think you will find useful.
Finger picking was the next big thing for me after I had been playing chords and strumming a while.
I used to listen & play along with all sorts of finger pickers, from Neil Youngs acoustic (future post) Dire Straits, Django Reinhardt, Led Zeppelins and the Great Uncles of acoustic guitar, Bert Jansch and Davy Graham
These guys and many others taught me about melodys in finger picking.
I also remember stretching my fingers and working my right hand beyond it’s comfort zones to get multiple rythyms and counterpoints going :-)
I think finger picking, as much as a I love hard out rocking, was the most rewarding phase of learning for me, not that learning is over.
Oh no, far from it :-)
